Originally built in 1728, Ballyvolane was remodelled in the Italianate style. Surrounded by mature woodland, extensive gardens, parkland and trout lakes, the house has a charming, peaceful atmosphere.
Delicious food is a high point at Ballyvolane. County Cork is well known for its artisan food producers and during the growing season, most of the vegetables and fruit come from Ballyvolane’s walled garden.
Ballyvolane has over six miles of privately-managed salmon fishing on the renowned River Blackwater, with a wide variety of spring and summer beats. Ballyvolane also has trout lakes on the estate.
The beautiful Blackwater Valley, with its many gardens and historic sites, is well worth visiting. Blarney Castle, Cobh, Cork City, Fota, Killarney, Kilkenny, Kinsale, Lismore, the Ring of Kerry, the Rock of Cashel, and Waterford Crystal can all be visited from Ballyvolane.
Sea fishing, beaches, riding, horse racing, hill walking, farmers markets, traditional Irish music, antiques, and 23 golf courses are all available within an hour’s drive.
